Zinc phosphate is a chemical compound that is used in a number of industries, including automotive, coatings, and electronics. It is also known as zinc dihydrogen phosphate, zinc hydrogen phosphate, and zinc phosphate monobasic. Common uses of zinc phosphate include corrosion protection, paint adhesion promotion, and use as a component in lubricants and anti-seize compounds.
When rubber is exposed to zinc phosphate, common failure modes can include swelling, cracking, and loss of physical properties such as tensile strength and elasticity. In extreme cases, the rubber can be completely dissolved. In order to avoid these types of failures, it is important to select a rubber material that is compatible with zinc phosphate, and to ensure that the rubber is adequately protected from exposure to the chemical.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
