Wollastonite, also known as Wollastonite Salts, is a calcium silicate mineral. It is commonly used in the manufacturing of plastics, paints, ceramics, and rubber.
Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to Wollastonite Salts are hardening, cracking, and reduced elasticity. Wollastonite Salts are composed of calcium and silicate, which can react with the rubber to cause hardening. Additionally, the salts can react with the rubber to cause the formation of cracks due to stress and strain. Long-term exposure can also cause the rubber to become brittle and reduce its elasticity.
