Varnish is a clear liquid that is used to protect and finish wood surfaces. It is also used to seal and protect metal surfaces and to seal concrete. Common varnish types include polyurethane, alkyd, and acrylic.
When rubber is exposed to varnish, the rubber can become brittle and cracked due to the solvents in the varnish. The varnish can also cause the rubber to swell and harden, reducing its elasticity and leading to eventual failure. In addition, the varnish can cause discoloration and corrosion of the rubber material.
