Undecylenic acid is also known as 10-Undecenoic acid and is an oily liquid naturally produced by the body. It is commonly used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, for example as an antifungal agent, in hair care products, and as an ingredient in skin creams.
When rubber is exposed to undecylenic acid, some of the more common failure types can include swelling, cracking, and discoloration of the rubber material. Additionally, rubber exposed to undecylenic acid can become brittle over time and have a decreased resistance to tearing. This can result in a weakened seal and lead to potential failure of the rubber material.
