Skydrol 500 B4, also known as phosphoric acid ester, is a flame-resistant hydraulic fluid used primarily in aircrafts. It is highly resistant to fire and flash fire, and is very stable even when exposed to high temperatures. Common industries that use Skydrol 500 B4 include aerospace, defense, and military applications.
When rubber is exposed to Skydrol 500 B4, some of the common failures that may occur include swelling, cracking, and hardening of the rubber material. Swelling can occur when the rubber material absorbs the Skydrol 500 B4, causing it to expand and become distorted. Cracking can also occur as the rubber material becomes brittle and can no longer withstand the pressure of the Skydrol 500 B4. Lastly, hardening can occur as the rubber material becomes more rigid and loses its elasticity.
