Silver nitrate, also known as silver salts, aqueous is a chemical compound that is commonly used in healthcare and other industries. In the healthcare industry, silver nitrate is used for its antiseptic and anesthetic properties, as well as for its ability to cauterize tissue. In other industries, silver nitrate is used for its staining capabilities and as a photographic developer.
When exposed to silver nitrate, certain types of rubber can experience significant damage. The chemical can cause rubber to become brittle and hardened, as well as cause discoloration and surface cracking. This type of damage is irreversible and can render the rubber unusable in its intended application.
