SHELL TELLUS 33, also known as Petro-Base 33, is a petroleum-based hydraulic oil used in various applications such as industrial machinery, construction equipment, and automotive systems. Common uses for this oil include lubrication, cooling, and cleaning of machinery.
When rubber is exposed to Petro-Base 33, it can cause swelling, softening, and cracking of the rubber. This can lead to a reduction in the seal's performance and life. Additionally, Petro-Base 33 can cause discolouration and embrittlement of the rubber due to thermal oxidation. In extreme cases, exposure to Petro-Base 33 can also cause complete failure of the rubber seal.
