SHELL TELLUS 27, also known as Petro-Base, is a petroleum-based hydraulic oil used in a variety of applications such as industrial machinery, construction equipment, and automotive systems. Common uses for this oil include lubrication, cooling, and cleaning of machinery.
When rubber is exposed to Petro-Base, it can cause swelling and softening, leading to a reduction in the seal's performance and life. Additionally, Petro-Base can cause discolouration and embrittlement of the rubber due to thermal oxidation. In extreme cases, exposure to Petro-Base can also cause cracking and complete failure of the rubber seal.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
