Propyl propionate, also known as propyl propanoate, is a colorless liquid with a mild odor. It is used in a variety of industries, including food processing and the production of paints, plastics, and pharmaceuticals.
When rubber is exposed to propyl propionate, it can suffer from a few common issues. The most common issue is that rubber can become brittle and crack, or it can swell and become soft and sticky. Additionally, propyl propionate can cause discoloration and fading of the rubber, as well as a decrease in its tensile strength. Prolonged exposure can also lead to the rubber becoming brittle and cracking.
