Propyl nitrate, also known as nitropentane, is a volatile, flammable liquid with a sweet smell. It is used in the production of explosives, varnishes, lacquers, and perfumes. It is also used as a fuel for camping stoves, torches and lighters.
When rubber is exposed to propyl nitrate, it can suffer from a few common issues. The most common issue is that rubber can become brittle and crack, or it can swell and become soft and sticky. Additionally, if propyl nitrate comes into contact with rubber for an extended period, it can cause discoloration and fading of the rubber.
