Potassium Monochromate, also known as Potassium Dichromate, is a chemical compound used in the manufacturing of paints, dyes, inks, and photographic developers. It is also used in ceramics and pottery, as well as in the production of matches and fireworks. Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to Potassium Monochromate include discoloration, swelling, and cracking. The rubber may become brittle and harden, reducing its ability to withstand pressure, vibration, and shock. Additionally, the rubber may become less resistant to heat, making it more susceptible to heat damage. Furthermore, the chemical may cause the rubber to become more brittle and porous, resulting in the rubber losing its waterproofing capabilities.
