Potash, aqueous is also known as potassium hydroxide or caustic potash. It is a highly caustic substance, and is used in a variety of industries for various purposes. Common uses of potash, aqueous include pH control in swimming pools, soap and detergent manufacturing, food and beverage processing, and wastewater treatment.
When rubber is exposed to potash, aqueous it can cause swelling of the material and can lead to a decrease in mechanical properties, such as tensile strength and tear strength. In addition, potash, aqueous can cause cracking and hardening of the rubber, and can lead to corrosion of the rubber. Long-term exposure can also result in embrittlement and cracking of the rubber.
