PICRIC ACID, MOLTEN Resistant O-Rings and Seals

PICRIC ACID, MOLTEN, also known as 2,4,6-trinitrophenol or phenol trinitrate, is a liquid compound used in the manufacture of explosives, dyes, and pharmaceuticals. It is also used as an antiseptic and in the production of certain acids.

When rubber is exposed to PICRIC ACID, MOLTEN, it can become brittle and prone to cracking. The acid can corrode the rubber, leading to the loss of elasticity and causing the rubber to become hard and brittle. Additionally, PICRIC ACID, MOLTEN can cause rubber to become discolored and swell, leading to seal failure and leakage. The high temperatures associated with the molten acid can accelerate the rate of degradation and make it more difficult to adequately protect rubber components.
