Pickling solution is also known as pickle liquor and is a mixture of acids used to remove scale and rust from metal surfaces. It is commonly used in the metalworking industry, especially when the surface needs to be very clean and free of contaminants.
When rubber is exposed to pickling solution, it can discolour, swell, and become brittle. The acids in the pickling solution can corrode and weaken the rubber, making it more prone to tearing. Additionally, the rubber can become swollen and distorted, leading to seal failure and leakage.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
