PHOSGENE, also known as Carbonic Dichloride or Carbonyl Chloride, is a colorless and odorless gas used in a variety of industries, such as the production of plastics, solvents, and pesticides. It is also used in the production of pharmaceuticals and dyes.
When rubber is exposed to PHOSGENE, the rubber can become brittle and crack due to the chemical's corrosive properties. Additionally, it can cause swelling, distortion, and embrittlement in the rubber material. PHOSGENE can also cause discoloration of the rubber, as well as weakening its strength. Therefore, it is important to use rubber materials that are resistant to PHOSGENE in applications where the chemical is present.
