PHORONE, also known as Phenylmercuric Acetate, is a commonly used preservative and fungicide. It is primarily used in the agriculture and food industries to prevent spoilage and to protect crops from fungi and bacteria. In addition, it can also be used in other industries to protect products from mold and mildew.
When rubber is exposed to PHORONE, the rubber can become brittle and crack due to the chemical's corrosive properties. It can also cause swelling, distortion, and embrittlement in the rubber material. Additionally, PHORONE can cause discoloration of the rubber, as well as weakening its strength. Therefore, it is important to use rubber materials that are resistant to PHORONE in applications where the chemical is present.
EPDM o-rings, or ethylene propylene o-rings, are a family of synthetic elastomers with lower cost steam and chemical resistance, particularly for applications involving solvents, acids and other mild chemicals. Marco Rubber has the world’s largest inventory network of EPDM o-rings and made on demand custom manufacturing often without tooling fees, so the EPDM o-rings you need are always available. Whether it’s for water systems, braking systems, medical, pharmaceutical, food or dairy use, you can count on Marco Rubber to deliver your o-rings fast and efficiently.
