PHENYLACETAMIDE Resistant O-Rings and Seals

Phenylacetamide, also known as phenylacetamide hydrochloride, is a chemical compound used in the production of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and photographic materials. It is also used in the production of explosives, polymers, and rubber accelerators. Common types of rubber failures when exposed to Phenylacetamide can include swelling, cracking, and hardening. Swelling of rubber materials can occur due to the absorption of the Phenylacetamide, which can cause the rubber to become soft and pliable. Cracking and hardening can occur due to the release of nitrogen, which can reduce the elasticity of the rubber and cause it to become brittle and break. Additionally, the phenylacetamide can react with other chemicals in the rubber to create new compounds, which can increase the hardness and decrease the flexibility of the rubber. Long-term exposure can also lead to the formation of weak spots in the rubber, which can lead to cracking and ultimately failure.
