Parathion, also known as ethyl parathion, is an organophosphate pesticide used to control various insects. It is commonly used in agriculture, forestry, and public health settings. Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to parathion include swelling, hardening, and embrittlement. In some cases, the rubber may become tacky, leading to seal failure. Additionally, the rubber may become brittle due to the oxidation of the chemical, which can cause premature failure.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
