OS45 Type 1V is a mineral-based, turbine oil formulated to provide superior lubrication and protection to rotating parts in gas and steam turbines. It is commonly used in the power generation, oil and gas, and marine industries.
When rubber is exposed to OS45 Type 1V, it can cause swelling and softening due to migration of oil into the rubber material. This can lead to a decrease in the physical properties of the rubber, such as a decrease in tensile strength, tear strength and abrasion resistance. Additionally, the oil can cause the rubber to become brittle, leading to a decrease in seal integrity and a shorter service life.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
