Nickel Nitrate, also known as Nickel Salts, is a chemical compound commonly used in industries such as electroplating, fertilizer production, and in the production of dyes. Nickel Nitrate is highly soluble in water, making it a popular choice for many industrial applications.
When rubber is exposed to Nickel Nitrate, it can cause a number of failures including cracking, swelling and discoloration. Swelling can be caused by the absorption of water from the Nickel Nitrate solution, while discoloration is caused by the chemical reaction between the components of the rubber and Nickel Nitrate. Cracking can be caused by a combination of the two, as the rubber swells and then cracks due to the pressure.
