MOBILGREASE SM is a semi-synthetic grease designed for use in automotive and light industrial applications. Common names for this chemical include Semi-Synthetic Grease, Semi-Synthetic EP Grease and Semi-Synthetic Polyalphaolefin Grease.
Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to MOBILGREASE SM include cracking, softening, swelling, and discoloration. The main cause of these failures is the high temperature and the chemical constituents of the grease. The high temperatures can cause the rubber to break down and lose its elasticity, while the chemical constituents of the grease may interact with the rubber, resulting in a loss of strength or integrity. In some cases, the rubber may become brittle and prone to cracking or tearing.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
