MOBIL THERM 600 is a family of synthetic lubricants designed for high temperature applications. It is also known as synthetic ester based lubricant and is used in applications that require superior lubricity, thermal stability, and oxidation resistance. Common applications include turbine lubes, hydraulic fluids, and compressor oils.
When rubber is exposed to MOBIL THERM 600, common types of failures include loss of elasticity, hardening, and cracking. Loss of elasticity occurs when the lubricant breaks down the rubber's molecules, causing it to become less flexible and more brittle. Hardening is caused when the rubber becomes too stiff and brittle, while cracking can result from the lubricant breaking down the rubber's structure.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
