MOBIL SHC 600 SERIES is a family of synthetic lubricant products designed to meet demanding performance requirements in a variety of industrial applications. It is commonly known as synthetic PAO (polyalphaolefin) based lubricant, and is used in applications where high load carrying capacity, low temperature performance, and oxidation resistance are needed. Common applications include gear lubes, compressor lubricants, metalworking fluids, and hydraulic oils.
When rubber is exposed to MOBIL SHC 600 SERIES, common types of failures include hardening, swelling, cracking, and loss of elasticity. Hardening occurs when the rubber becomes too stiff and brittle, while swelling can cause rubber to become brittle and crack when stretched. Cracking is a result of the rubber breaking down due to the chemicals in the lubricant, while loss of elasticity is caused by the lubricant breaking down the rubber's molecules.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
