Mixed Acids, also known as acid mixture, acid blend, and acid cocktail, is a combination of two or more acids used in a variety of industries. Common acids used in mixed acids are hydrochloric, nitric, sulfuric and phosphoric. Mixed acids are used in metal plating and surface finishing, etching, and cleaning applications.
When rubber materials are exposed to mixed acids, the rubber can become brittle and crack, resulting in failure. The acid can also cause the rubber to swell, which can lead to cracks and other failures. In addition, the rubber can become permanently discolored and potentially degrade, leading to a complete breakdown of the material.
