Mixed acid etchants are commonly known as Aqua Regia, Nitric Acid, and Hydrochloric Acid. These chemicals are commonly used in the electronics, automotive, and medical device industries as surface treatments and to remove corrosion build up.
When rubber is exposed to mixed acid etchants, it is likely to experience accelerated degradation, leading to cracking, loss of tensile strength, and eventual failure. In the case of medical device seals, the rubber may become brittle and crack, potentially leading to leaks and contamination. Additionally, the rubber may swell, becoming distorted and losing its sealing capabilities.
Fluorosilicone o-rings are a hybrid of silicone and FKM resulting in great jet fuel resistance with high and low temperature performance. Also widely used in semiconductor Ashing equipment with strong resistance to oxygen plasma, FVMQ fluorosilicone o-rings also feature excellent flexibility, compression resistance, aging and sunlight resistance, and overall wide range of basic chemical resistance.
