MIL0S03136, also known as JP-5 aviation fuel, is a petroleum-based fuel primarily used in aircraft. It is a kerosene-type fuel that has a high flash point and a low freezing point, making it ideal for aviation use. Common uses for this fuel include military, commercial, and private aircraft.
When rubber is exposed to JP-5 aviation fuel, there is a risk of swelling, softening, and discoloration. These effects can be seen in as little as one hour of exposure and can continue to worsen with prolonged exposure. Additionally, the fuel may cause cracking and embrittlement of the rubber, leading to a decrease in mechanical strength and a decrease in tear strength and elongation.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
