MIL0R025576 is better known as 1,2-dichloroethane and is a colorless liquid with a sweet odor. It is used for a variety of industrial applications such as degreasing, paint removers, and a solvent for waxes, oils, and greases. It is also a common ingredient in paint strippers and aerosol spray products.
When rubber is exposed to 1,2-dichloroethane, there may be a risk of swelling, softening, cracking, and embrittlement. These effects can begin almost immediately upon exposure and can lead to a loss of mechanical strength and a decrease in tear strength and elongation. Additionally, repeated exposure can result in an increase in permeability to gases and liquids.
