MIL0L017331, also known as Ethylene Glycol, is commonly used as an antifreeze and coolant in automotive, industrial and marine applications. It is also commonly used as a solvent and to reduce surface tension in water-based products.
When rubber is exposed to ethylene glycol, it can cause the rubber to become brittle and crack. This is due to the chemical's hygroscopic nature, which causes it to absorb moisture from the environment. In addition, the chemical can cause the rubber to swell, leading to further damage and weakening of the rubber material.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
