MIL-H-08446, also known as EPDM rubber, is a synthetic rubber used in a variety of industries, such as automotive, medical, marine, and aerospace. It is valued for its resistance to extreme temperatures, ozone, UV light, and steam. Common uses include gaskets, seals, and hoses.
When rubber is exposed to MIL-H-08446, it can quickly swell, soften, weaken, and crack. Over time, the rubber can become brittle and eventually break down completely. This can lead to a loss of structural integrity, such as a weakened seal or damaged hose. Additionally, if the rubber is exposed to higher temperatures, it can become more prone to failure as the chemical can break down faster.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
