MIL-PRF-05566 is a polychloroprene rubber, also known as Neoprene rubber. It is commonly used in automotive and industrial applications such as seals, gaskets, hoses, and O-rings. Neoprene rubber is resistant to a wide range of chemicals, including oils, acids, alkalis, and solvents. It is also resistant to extreme temperatures and can be used in applications that require temperatures below -50°C and up to +200°C.
However, Neoprene rubber is not completely resistant to all chemicals. It can be damaged by exposure to certain solvents, such as acetone and MEK. Additionally, prolonged exposure to ozone or ultraviolet light can cause the rubber to crack, tear, or become discolored.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
