MIL-0C-07024 is also known as Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). It is a common solvent used in many industries, including paint and coatings, printing inks, adhesives, and cleaning agents.
When rubber is exposed to MEK, it can cause the material to swell and soften, leading to a loss of strength and elasticity. The solvent can also corrode the rubber, leading to cracks and holes in the material. It can also cause the rubber to degrade, leading to discoloration, brittleness, and ultimately loss of physical properties. In addition, the solvent can dissolve certain types of rubber, causing it to lose its shape and become brittle.
