Methyl Hexyl Ketone, also known as 2-Hexanone, is a clear, colorless liquid with a pleasant odor. It is used in a variety of industries including printing inks, paint and coating, adhesives, textiles, and cosmetics. It is also used as a solvent in the agricultural, automotive, and pharmaceutical industries.
When rubber is exposed to Methyl Hexyl Ketone, it can cause a number of types of failure. Swelling and hardening due to the solvent's high vapor pressure is the most common. Additionally, the solvent can cause rubber to become brittle, leading to cracking and tearing. It can also cause corrosion of metal parts due to the presence of methyl ethyl ketone, which is a byproduct of Methyl Hexyl Ketone. Finally, exposure to high temperatures can cause the rubber to degrade and become more brittle.
Fluorosilicone o-rings are a hybrid of silicone and FKM resulting in great jet fuel resistance with high and low temperature performance. Also widely used in semiconductor Ashing equipment with strong resistance to oxygen plasma, FVMQ fluorosilicone o-rings also feature excellent flexibility, compression resistance, aging and sunlight resistance, and overall wide range of basic chemical resistance.
