Magnesium Chloride is also known as ‘Bischofite’, ‘MgCl2’, and ‘Sea Salt’. It is a common industrial chemical and is used in many industries such as in road de-icing and dust control, in the production of fertilizers, and as a food additive.
Rubber materials exposed to Magnesium Chloride can suffer from a wide range of failure modes such as brittleness, cracking, swelling, and discoloration. These failures can lead to reduced performance and a shorter lifespan for the rubber material. Additionally, exposure to Magnesium Chloride can cause a breakdown of the rubber material’s protective properties, leading to further damage to the rubber material.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
