Lactic acid hot is also known as hot hydroxypropanoic acid and has many uses in industry. It is used in food processing to reduce the pH of products, in the production of plastics and in the fabrication of textiles. It is also used as a cleaning agent in the pharmaceutical industry and in tanning.
When rubber is exposed to lactic acid hot, it can cause the material to swell, shrink, become brittle, crack and discolor. Swelling of the rubber reduces its dimensional stability and makes it more susceptible to cracking. Shrinking and discoloration can also cause the rubber to become brittle and degrade. Additionally, exposure to lactic acid hot can cause the rubber to react with other chemicals and increase the rate of chemical degradation.
