JP06 is also known as polyisobutylene, a synthetic rubber polymer. It is commonly used to make seals, gaskets and hoses in automotive and industrial applications. JP06 is resistant to many chemicals, however, exposure to highly concentrated acids can cause swelling, discoloration and eventual breakdown of the rubber. In extreme cases, the rubber may become brittle and crack. JP06 is also vulnerable to ozone degradation, leading to cracking and hardening of the material.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
