JP-10, also known as Jet Propellant 10, is a type of jet fuel used in military aircraft. It is a highly flammable hydrocarbon fuel blend and is composed of hydrocarbons such as kerosene, mineral oil, and xylene. Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to JP-10 include cracking, swelling, and hardening of the rubber. Cracking can occur due to the exposure to high temperatures and can be caused by thermal cycling or exposure to environments with high temperatures. Swelling can occur when the rubber is exposed to the chemical for a prolonged period of time, which can cause the rubber to expand and crack. Hardening can occur as the chemical can cause the rubber to become brittle and hard over time.
