Isobutyraldehyde, also known as 2-methylpropanal, is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It is used in a variety of industries such as the production of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and fragrances. It is also used as a solvent and a fuel.
Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to isobutyraldehyde include cracking, shrinking, hardening, and embrittlement due to its ability to accelerate the aging of rubber. Additionally, isobutyraldehyde can cause discoloration of rubber, affect its physical properties such as tensile strength, elongation, and tear strength, and cause an unpleasant odor.
EPDM o-rings, or ethylene propylene o-rings, are a family of synthetic elastomers with lower cost steam and chemical resistance, particularly for applications involving solvents, acids and other mild chemicals. Marco Rubber has the world’s largest inventory network of EPDM o-rings and made on demand custom manufacturing often without tooling fees, so the EPDM o-rings you need are always available. Whether it’s for water systems, braking systems, medical, pharmaceutical, food or dairy use, you can count on Marco Rubber to deliver your o-rings fast and efficiently.
