Hydroxylamine sulfate, also known as hydroxylammonium sulfate, is an inorganic salt used in the production of dyes and pharmaceuticals. It is also commonly used as a reagent in laboratory experiments.
When rubber is exposed to hydroxylamine sulfate, the rubber may experience a process of degradation known as hydrolytic degradation. This is caused by the chemical's reactivity with the rubber, leading to the formation of sulfate esters which can cause the rubber to become brittle and crack. Additionally, hydroxylamine sulfate can cause plasticizers to leach out of the rubber, leading to reduced flexibility and elastomeric properties.
