Hydro0Drive MIH050, also known as petroleum base oil, is a petroleum-based lubricant used in a variety of industries such as automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing. It is typically used as a base for cutting fluids, hydraulic fluids, and grease.
Common rubber failures associated with exposure to petroleum base oil are cracking, swelling, and hardening. The petroleum base oil can act as a plasticizer, causing the rubber to become softer and more flexible. This can lead to cracking, as the rubber becomes brittle and prone to breakage. Swelling can occur when the oil migrates into the rubber, causing the rubber to expand and become less resistant to stress. Hardening is the result of the oil seeping into the rubber, which can cause the rubber to become stiff and unable to flex without breaking.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
