Hexachlorocyclohexane is also known as Lindane or Gammax. It is primarily used as an insecticide, especially for treating lice, scabies, and other parasites. It is also used in some industrial processes and can be found in some consumer products.
When rubber is exposed to hexachlorocyclohexane, it can cause a variety of failures, such as cracking, swelling, and embrittlement. In some cases, the rubber can become brittle and crack due to the chemical’s solvent action. In other cases, the rubber can swell due to its absorption of the chemical. In addition, prolonged and/or intense exposure to hexachlorocyclohexane can cause the rubber to harden, leading to a loss of elasticity, flexibility, and strength.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
