Hexachlorobutadiene, also known as HCB, is a colorless and volatile liquid. It is used in the production of rubber and other polymers, as well as in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and pigments.
When rubber is exposed to Hexachlorobutadiene, it can become brittle and crack due to a decrease in mechanical strength. Additionally, the rubber may swell and soften, leading to a loss of shape. Over time, the rubber may become increasingly brittle, eventually leading to premature failure.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
