Gulf Security Oils, also known as mineral oil, mineral spirit, paraffin oil and liquid paraffin, is a clear, colorless and odorless liquid. It is a petroleum distillate commonly used as a lubricant, fuel, solvent, and raw material for the manufacture of a variety of products. Common uses for mineral oil include lubricants for machinery and automobiles, fuel for lamps, production of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, and as a base for paint and varnish.
Rubber can be damaged when exposed to mineral oil due to swelling and changes in the rubber's physical properties. This can cause rubber seals to become brittle, resulting in cracking and breaking. In addition, the rubber may become softer and less resistant to pressure, resulting in leakage. Long-term exposure can also cause the rubber to become sticky or have an oily feel.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
