Gulf Paramount Oils, also known as GULF, is a mineral oil and hydrocarbon blend used mainly as a lubricant and metal protectant in industrial processes. GULF is used mainly in metalworking applications such as cutting, grinding, and stamping, as well as in hydraulic systems.
When exposed to GULF, rubber components can become brittle, stiff, and suffer from physical damage such as cracking and splitting. GULF can also cause rubber components to become more vulnerable to other environmental factors such as heat, humidity, and UV light. Additionally, the rubber may become discolored and degraded due to its exposure to the lubricant. It is important to use the correct type of rubber for the application in order to avoid potential failure due to incompatibility with the lubricant.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
