Gulf High Temperature Grease, also known as GHTG, is a specialty lubricant used in high-temperature applications such as car engines, industrial machinery, and ovens. It is composed of a thickening agent and a blend of petroleum oils and solvents. GHTG provides both lubrication and corrosion resistance for metal parts in extreme temperatures.
When exposed to GHTG, rubber components can become brittle and suffer from physical damage such as cracking, splitting and deformation. Additionally, the rubber may become discolored and degraded due to its exposure to the lubricant. GHTG can also cause rubber components to become more vulnerable to other environmental factors such as heat, humidity, and UV light. It is important to use the correct type of rubber for the application in order to avoid potential failure due to incompatibility with the lubricant.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
