Gulf Endurance Oils are a family of petroleum-based lubricants created by Gulf Oil. They are commonly used in industrial and automotive applications, such as engine oils, gear oils, and hydraulic oils. The lubricants contain mineral or synthetic base oils and a variety of additives, including anti-wear agents, detergents, and dispersants. Common uses include in motor vehicles, industrial machinery, and agricultural equipment.
Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to Gulf Endurance Oils include swelling, cracking, discoloration, and embrittlement. These failures can occur due to the high temperatures generated by the lubricants, which can cause the rubber to lose its elasticity. In some cases, the rubber seal may become so brittle that it breaks or shatters. In other cases, the rubber may become sticky and adhere to other parts. It is important to test rubber seals for compatibility with Gulf Endurance Oils before using them in applications.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
