Furan, also known as Furan, is an organic chemical compound used in a variety of industrial processes. It is used in the production of plastics, resins, and solvents, as well as in the rubber industry as a curing agent and molding material. It is also used in the pharmaceutical industry as a precursor to drugs and other chemicals.
When rubber is exposed to Furan, the rubber may become brittle and break down over time. In addition, the rubber may experience swelling, cracking, and discoloration due to the chemical's reactivity. In extreme cases, the rubber may become brittle and break down completely, leading to leaks and complete failure of the seals. To minimize the risk of failure, rubber seals should be replaced more frequently when exposed to Furan.
