Fomblin is a brand name of perfluoropolyether (PFPE) lubricants, which are widely used in a variety of industries, including aerospace, automotive, and medical. Common applications for Fomblin lubricants include high-temperature and high-pressure applications, as well as vacuum and cryogenic applications.
Common types of failures when rubber is exposed to Fomblin lubricants include swelling, softening, and cracking of the rubber. Additionally, Fomblin lubricants may lead to the rubber becoming brittle over time, and may cause the rubber to become sticky, leading to adhesion and sticking to other surfaces. Prolonged exposure to Fomblin lubricants may also cause the rubber to break down and degrade.
