Fluorine liquid, also known as liquid fluorine, is a colorless and odorless liquid commonly used in the production of refrigerants, propellants, and solvents. It is also used in the production of specialty chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and electronics.
When rubber materials are exposed to fluorine liquid, they can suffer from a number of failures, such as cracking, hardening, and discoloration. Furthermore, the liquid can cause the rubber to become brittle and prone to physical damage from abrasion and cutting. In extreme cases, the rubber can become brittle enough to shatter when exposed to temperatures or pressure changes.
Viton ® o-rings from Marco Rubber offer excellent compatibility with a range of chemicals, oils and resist high temperatures up to 400F. Viton ® is also known as FKM made of fluoroelastomer one of the most versatile and widely used sealing materials.
