FC 22 (Chlorodifluoromethane) is also known as R-22 and is a refrigerant commonly used in air conditioning and refrigeration systems. It is also used as a propellant and aerosol in certain industries.
When rubber is exposed to FC 22, it may cause swelling of the rubber due to the chemical’s low boiling point. This can lead to the rubber becoming brittle and hard, or becoming too soft and sticky. Over time, the rubber may become discolored or brittle and can cause cracks or leaks. In extreme cases, the rubber can be dissolved by the FC 22.
