Ethylene Chloride, also known as vinyl chloride monomer, is an organic compound used in the production of PVC plastics and other industrial products. It is a colorless, sweet-smelling liquid, and it is highly flammable. It is used in a variety of industries, including agriculture, food production, and chemical production.
When rubber is exposed to ethylene chloride, it is at risk of swelling, cracking, and softening of the material. Additionally, the rubber may become brittle and break down more rapidly than normal due to the corrosive properties of the chemical. In some cases, the rubber may become chemically unstable and break down into smaller molecules, leading to further degradation of the rubber.
